Microsoft’s internal Tellme team is working on implementing speech recognition software into the Redmond-based firm’s portfolio of software and hardware products. Designing for Metro style and the desktop

By now you’ve seen two different elements of the Windows 8 design—first, a Metro style user interface we showed previously and in a video seen by millions of folks. And recently, we have described in this blog some of the enhancements we’re making to familiar Windows desktop tools such as Explorer and the copy file dialog. Improvements in Windows Explorer

The telemetry data indicates that top 10 commands amounts to 81.8% of Explorer Command use, which includes Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete, Rename, Properties, Refresh, New and Command Bar while according to the information only 10.9% come from the Command bar which is the most visible part in Windows Explorer in Windows 7 or Vista. Improving our file management basics

Copying, moving, renaming, and deleting are far and away the most heavily used features within Windows Explorer, representing 50% of total command usage (based on Windows 7 telemetry data). Windows 8 Aero Auto-Colorization

The next new feature of the upcoming Windows 8 operating system has been revealed: Windows Aero Auto-Colorization. What does it mean? It basically means that Aero will change the colorization of Windows automatically based on the underlying color. If you have green background, for instance a green desktop wallpaper, then the window color will also be set to colors in that spectrum. (more…)

New Task Manager In Windows 8

It feels only natural that Microsoft continues updating core Windows modules and programs which they have started under Windows 7. It is safe to say that additional modules and features will be updated. One of the latest that we know of is the Windows Task Manager which will get a complete overhaul.

ARM or Intel? The Windows 8 Tablet Question

When Windows 8 comes out it’s bound to cause a great deal of excitement in the tablet market. For the first time there will be an excellent and truly viable Windows tablet operating system and it’s bound to shake up the market.

It’s also very likely to cause a great deal of confusion though and this is because Windows 8 on Intel chips and Windows 8 on ARM chips will be very different beasts. They’ll operate in different ways, run different software and be updated differently. (more…)

Windows 8 May Support Xbox 360 Games

Well here’s a new rumor for us all. According to popular game site “Gamespot” Windows 8 will support games which are designed for the Xbox 360. Now as usual with rumors, there is never really any proof to back up this idea so take it with a pinch of salt. It’s a rather wild rumor which appears to be more wishful thinking or from a conversation overheard in a bar down some back alley.
