We bring you a native SmartScreen file checking system that prevents users from launching malicious software on their desktop. Long Zheng istartedsomething.com discovered this feature on Friday and gives us some more details about it.
As Zheng explains, the Windows 8 SmartScreen serves two purposes in the next major operating system from Microsoft. First, the SmartScreen will act as an anti-virus (such as Windows Security Essentials) built-in to the operating system. Secondly, the SmartScreen will prevent malicious software from downloading and running that is unknown or blacklisted by Microsoft.
